7th Pay Commission: Soldiers get clothing allowance; doctors, govt employee look for pay hike

7th Pay Commission: The Central government employees are demanding pay hike beyond the 7th Pay Commission recommendations for quite sometime now. Defence Ministry has approved clothing allowances of Rs 10,000 for soldiers under 7CPC. However, there is no development on the minimum pay hike for 48 lakh central government employees. Here are the main points on latest 7th Pay Commission pay hike:

1. 7th Pay Commission: The Defence Ministry has  approved a Rs. 10,000 clothing allowance for soldiers on border duty.

2. Soldiers and Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) will now be able to procure clothing items, including summer uniform, shirt angola, woollen jersey, mufti dress and accoutrements like lanyard, belt, badges, ribbons, chevron and formation sign using the clothing allowance.

3. All other clothing items, including combat dress, physical fitness training kit as also the newly-introduced improved physical training (PT) shoes, will continue to be issued to all soldiers from the military stores as authorised items.

4. Recently, doctors took to the streets demanding pay hike. They say their salary is not adequate to maintain their lifestyle in these inflationary times.

5.  Nearly 50 lakh central government employees are waiting for minimum pay scale and fitment factor hike. These employees are demanding a fitment factor of 3.68 times with minimum pay scale of Rs 26,000.

6. The central government revised minimum pay to Rs 18,000 from previous Rs 7,000 per month, along with fitment factor of 2.57 in June 2016.
