Thackeray Box Office Collection day 1: Biopic of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray, which was released on Friday, has created a buzz among movie lovers, as the film's lead actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Amrita Rao put in an impressive performance. Abhijit Panse directed Thackeray hit screens a day earlier in the overseas market.

The Bal Thackeray biopic, featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is said to have included some lesser know interesting points from the life of Shiv Sena founder, besides touching on some sensitive topics too. The film begins covering his life from late 50s when Thackeray was working with Free Press Journal as a cartoonist in Mumbai. Since he was a restless soul, he was not able to compromise with the restrictions put on him by superiors over his hard-hitting cartoons on political figures. Thackeray resigned to start his own political weekly called Marmik.

With his cartoons, he started informing local people about their rights and speeches also motivated Maharashtrians who were ready to fight for their rights. As his popularity grew, he was addressed as Balasaheb. He later went on to float his own political party -- Shiv Sena -- in 1966.

Abhijit Panse directed Thackeray is expected to start day 1 with a decent box office collection and reports have also indicated positive trends in this regard. One film critic and trade analyst Akshaye Rathi stated that the film may earn around Rs 3 -Rs 3.5 crore on day 1, adding "Thackeray film has created a terrific buzz in Maharashtra. Both the Hindi and Marathi versions have generated very good anticipation in the public. With regards to the business of the film in India, Maharashtra is going to be the engine. I won't be surprised if the film manages to earn Rs 3-Rs 3.5 crore on day 1."

Moreover, film trade analysts are also of the view that Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer's have possibility to throw a big surprise with its box office collections. They would not be surprised if the biopic come up with unpredictable day 1 collections.
