Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said parliamentary system is best suited to Indian condition as it provides a platform for airing divergent views.
Speaking at 'Outlook Speakout Awards' function here, Jaitley said as a parliamentarian, he tried to focus on issues rather than personalities.
"Parliament still remains in India one of the greatest institutions which suits this country," he said, adding it has representatives of different political ideologies, regions and cultural background.
Of late the character of parliament, he said, "is changing because our polity itself is changing".
"There was a time when Indian parliament had essentially serious debates ... but of late you will have your usual bit of noise, disturbances, but one of the greatest flexibility of Indian Parliament is after noise, it starts functioning...," the finance minister said.
Jaitley was also given Outlook magazine's 'Best Parliamentarian Award' by former President Pranab Mukherjee.
