Share Market Opening Bell! Indices open with minor gains; Sensex, Nifty hit record high for 3rd straight day
The Indian market started Thursday’s session with minor gains, as Sensex and Nifty opened at record highs for the third straight day today. The former breached the 54,500-mark, while the latter reached near 16,300.

The BSE Sensex gained 207 points or 0.38 per cent to 54576.6 while Nifty grew around 30 points or 0.2 per cent to 16,289 levels at the market open today. In the broader markets category, the mid-cap index jumped over 82 points or 0.3 per cent to 28010 at the open on Thursday.

Similarly, another important index, Nifty Bank surged around 66 points 0.2 per cent to 36094 levels today at the market open.
Of 50 scrips on Nifty50, 31 advanced, 19 declined minutes after the market open today. Amid healthy first-quarter numbers, Titan grew most at the market open today by over 1 per cent, followed by SBI up around 1 per cent on the back of strong June quarter earnings on Wednesday.
While Divis Lab, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and UPL also become the top index gainers at the market open on Thursday.
On the contrary, IndusInd Bank fell most by 2 per cent in the early morning trade today, followed by ONGC, Tata Steel and Tata Motors declined between 1-1.5 per cent on Thursday.
Minutes after the market open, almost all sectoral were trading in the red, with only Nifty IT and Pharma in the green. While Nifty Metal, banking, and financial services stocks declined most in the early morning trade on Thursday.
On the global front, US markets on Wednesday ended mixed as energy stocks drag the Dow Jones down over 300 points, while Nasdaq closes marginally in the green. While Asian markets on Thursday opened muted with the Japanese 'Nikkei' trading higher by over 100 points in early trade.
The Nifty had a superb run for 2nd day running as foreign selling comes back with a vengeance as banks lead the gains. Foreign investors were big buyers as ETF flows gain momentum at new highs for the Nifty.
