Share Market Opening Bell: Sensex gain, Nifty slip marginally, as markets open flat – Auto stocks drag most, Tata Motors continues downward rally
The Indian markets started Thursday session on a flat note with Sensex opening in the green, while Nifty in the red. The BSE Sensex gained 12.6 points or 0.02 per cent to 53067.4 levels, while Nifty fell by 24.3 points or 0.15 per cent to 15855-mark at the market open today.
In the broader markets, the mid-cap index gained over 63 points or 0.23 per cent to 27391.9, whereas following the Nifty50’s suit, Nifty Bank too declined by 168 points or 0.47 per cent higher to 35603.3 levels at open on Thursday.

Of 50 scrips on Nifty50, 29 advanced, while 21 declined in the early morning trade. Tech Mahindra surged most in the early morning trade by over 1 per cent, followed by Shree Cement and UPL each gaining around one per cent minutes after the market open today.
Auto stocks plunged most at open today, as Bajaj Auto declined by nearly 3 per cent, however, recovered to trade over higher half a per cent higher minutes after open.
Similarly, Tata Motors extends decline for the third straight day amid JLR chip shortage and negative EBIT announcement, the scrip opened 0.73 per cent lower today.
HDFC Bank, L&T and HUL are other index laggard today at the market open on Thursday, each slipped near one per cent.
The majority of the sectors are in the green, with banking, IT and Realty leading the surge. While on the other hand Auto, Metal, FMCG, and Financial Indices decline in the early morning trade today.
On the global front, the US market ended with gains as Dow Jones closed at the high for the day up over 120 points while Nasdaq hits another fresh new all-time high before closing flat.
Whereas, Asian markets opened muted with the Japanese 'Nikkei' trading lower for the 3rd day in a row, while South Korea and Taiwan see minor gains.
Another important trigger to the domestic markets, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 532.94 crore in cash and sold Rs 231.8 crore in index futures.
The Nifty on Wednesday had a volatile session with the index closing at all-time highs as banking and metals stocks led the surge. Sensex hit all-time highs of 53,105 levels before closing above 53,000.
