Early this week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union Cabinet decided to increase dearness allowance (DA) for the central government employees cum pensioners from 9 per cent to 12 per cent with effect from January 1, 2019 to “compensate” for price rise. The DA has now been hiked by 3 per cent over the existing rate of 9 per cent. 7th Pay Commission: The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval to the release of an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees, and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners w.e.f. 1.1.2019 representing an increase of 3% over the existing rate of 9% of the Basic Pay/Pension, to compensate for price rise. 7th Pay Commission: What the panel's report said about Dearness Allowance
7th Pay Commission: Dearness Allowance (DA) is paid to Central Government employees to adjust the cost of living and to protect their Basic Pay from erosion in the real value on account of inflation. Presently, DA is based on the All India Consumer Price Index (Industrial Workers). The 7th CPC report said, "Keeping in mind that the present formulation of DA has worked well over the years, and there are no demands for its alteration, the Commission recommends the continuance of the existing formula and methodology for calculating the Dearness Allowance." 7th Pay Commission: UGC confirms date for pay hike implementation for teachers
7th Pay Commission: Last month, the Central government had given its approved to a proposal for providing 7th Pay Commission benefits to teachers and academic staff of state governments and government-aided technical institutions. The government had said that the revised pay scales would be applicable from 1.1.2016. Now, UGC has confirmed the date from which the pay hike would be implemented. 7th pay commission: DA cheers for 11 lakh state government employees, pensioners
7th Pay Commission: The Rajasthan government has also gifted a pay hike to its fleet of around 11.5 lakh employees and pensioners. "The Governor is pleased to order that the existing rate of Dearness Allowance payable to the State Government employees, drawing pay in the Rajasthan Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2017, under Finance Department Order of even number dated 10-09-2018 shall be revised from 9% to 12% with effect from 01-01-2019," said the state finance ministry in a notification. 7th Pay Commission: Committee to look into pay hike demand of 2.5 lakh employees
7th Pay Commission: Over 2.5 lakh employees of the Gujarat state government had early this week taken to the roads, demanding the removal of pay disparity and implementation of the 7th pay commission benefits. Acting swiftly, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani acted swiftly as the protestors gheraoed the state assembly on Friday. He has constituted a three-member ministerial committee to talk to the agitating employees.
