WhatsApp has started 2019 with a bang by rolling out new biometric features for iOS users. Now, it is working on this feature.
New WhatsApp Feature: WhatsApp has started 2019 with a bang by rolling out new biometric features for iOS users. The feature allows iPhone users to add an extra layer of security to the application through Face ID and Touch ID. The introduction of this feature was the first sign that WhatsApp's focus in 2019 could be more on improving privacy of the users on the platform. The fact is further established now with the instant messaging platform working on a feature that will stop group admins from adding users to groups without their permission.
According to WABetaInfo, the platform is working a new 'Group Invitation' feature. With the introduction of this feature, the group admins won't be able to add contacts without their permission. It would come as a huge relief who are annoyed by getting randomly added to the WhatsApp groups.
To access this feature, the users will to go to Settings > Account > Privacy > Groups. When the user taps on 'Groups', he would be presented with three different options under 'Who Can Add Me To Groups'.

The privacy options include:
Everyone: This would allow anyone to add the user to a group. No invites will be received by the user in this case.
My Contacts: In this case, only users' contacts will be able to add him or her without an invite. The user will receive an invite to join a group from people not in his/her contacts list.
Nobody: In this case, the user will receive an invitation every time someone wants to add him/her to a group.
According to the initial details, the invite would not remain active for more than 72 hours. The invitation would expire after the mentioned time and a new invite would be needed to join the group after that. Also, the user won't be able to receive two invitations from the same group at the same time.
The feature is currently under development and will soon be made available for both Android and iOS users.
