World's most expensive cities to live in: Check full list of top 5
The Economist Intelligence Unit released the 2018 Worldwide Cost of Living Survey making a list of cities on the basis of 400 individual prices for 160 products and services. The surveyed products included, clothing, household items, food, personal care items, rental prices, transportation, utility bills, private schooling cost, domestic assistance etc. Here's the list of the 5 most expensive cities in the world.
1st Rank: Singapore
Singapore grabbed the first place in the list for the fifth consecutive year. The city is highly expensive on the cost of living. Affording a car in Singapore costs highest throughout the world. (Image: Reuters)
2nd Rank: Paris
The capital of France has bagged the 2nd spot in the list since the year 2003, it shares the second position with Zurich. The City of Lights has improved on its spot as it moved up five spots compared to the 2017 rankings. (Image: Reuters)
3rd Rank: Zurich
Zurich is a city in Switzerland which was on the third spot last year. The expensive segments of various products and services in the city show that there is premium choices of people here even on non-mandatory items. (Image: Reuters)
4th Rank: Hong Kong
The city grabbed the 4th position in the list, however it was on number two spot in 2017. It is one of the most expensive places to buy regular goods and services. Residents here love spending on premium items too. (Image: Reuters)
5th Rank: Oslo
This city in Norway was earlier at the 11th spot of most expensive cities. But this year, It improved by 6 spots in the list. (Image: Reuters)
