FIRST TRADE: Indices open higher; Sensex up over 100 pts; Nifty above 19,750
Stock market today: Last seen, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 131.56 points, or 0.20 per cent at 66,397.12, and the NSE Nifty was up 37.25 points, or 0.19 per cent at 19,764.3.
Stock market today: The domestic equity indices on Friday, September 8, opened higher amid buying in metal, pharma, financial services, auto, oil, and gas stocks.
Last seen, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 131.56 points, or 0.20 per cent at 66,397.12, and the NSE Nifty was up 37.25 points, or 0.19 per cent at 19,764.3.
In the Nifty50 basket, 32 stocks advanced and 18 declined. Larsen and Toubro (L&T) was the top gainers on the NSE.
In the broader market, Nifty Mid Cap 100 and Small Cap 100 traded higher. On the sectoral front, Nifty Bank traded flat at 44,888.5.
BUZZING STOCKS
Tata Steel was up half a per cent after its subsidiary, Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd., and Avaada signed an agreement for the Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia Project in Odisha.
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders shares were up over 8 per cent after the company signed a Master Ship Repair Agreement with the US Government.
Tejas Networks stock was up over 1 per cent after the company received Rs 750 crore as an advance from TCS.
Landmark Cars was up above 5 per cent as the company signed a Letter of Intent with Mahindra and Mahindra Limited.
Sterlite Technologies shares were up over 2 per cent after the company partnered with TruVista for fibre connectivity.
Lemon Tree Hotels shares were up over 2 per cent after the company deposited a fine of Rs 23,850 with the Commercial Tax Department of Karnataka.
Ind-Swift Laboratories shares were up over 2 per cent after the block deal.
Asian Energy Services stock was up over 1 per cent after multiple block deals.
Maan Aluminium hit the upper circuit after Dugar Growth Fund sold 13.25 lakh shares at Rs 86.19 per share.
Bajaj Finserv's scrip was up above 2 per cent after its subsidiary Bajaj Allianz General Insurance reported a gross direct premium underwritten for August at Rs 1,677.87 crore.
L&T was up over 1 per cent and was the top gainer on NSE in the morning deal after reports about a company likely to receive an order from Saudi Aramco worth $4 billion.
Conversely, Shemaroo Entertainment shares touched the lower circuit after the Central Goods and Services Tax and Central Excise Department conducted a search operation on the premises of the company.
