WhatsApp latest update: The Meta-owned popular messaging platform WhatsApp is planning to bring iMessage-like reactions on its platform soon. The messaging application seems almost ready to release this feature.
"WhatsApp is readying message reactions (secured by end-to-end encryption) in a new upcoming update of WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS," WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter. WABetaInfo has shared some screenshots of WhatsApp reactions, giving us an early preview of what the feature might look like once it goes live.

According to this report, WhatsApp users will see a row of emoji just above the message. It's unclear whether users will have to long-press on a message or there will be a dedicated button next to the message to add a reaction. The message reactions will come with end-to-end encryptions, but for now, very little information is available.
WhatsApp is also working on a new feature that would allow group admins on WhatsApp to delete messages for other members of the group as well. A user will see the 'This was deleted by an admin' message whenever any admin deletes a particular message.
"If you are a group admin, you will be able to delete any message for everyone in your groups, in a future update of WhatsApp beta for Android," WABetaInfo said in a tweet recently.
In related news, WhatsApp on Tuesday said that it has banned 2,079,000 accounts in India in the month of December in compliance with the new IT Rules, 2021. The company said that it also received 528 grievance reports in the same month from the country and took action on 24 of those.
"In accordance with the IT Rules 2021, we have published our seventh monthly report for the month of December. As captured in the latest monthly report, WhatsApp banned over 2 million accounts in the month of December," a WhatsApp spokesperson was quoted as saying by IANS.
The messaging application said that data shared highlights the number of Indian accounts banned by WhatsApp between December 1 to December 31 using the aforementioned abuse detection approach, which also includes action taken in furtherance to negative feedback received from users via our "Report" feature.
