Child Rights Protection Commission seeks action against mobile app Ullu
Ullu Digital has also filed for an IPO on the stock exchange BSE’s SME platform.
The Child Rights Protection Commission, a government agency aimed at protecting child rights, has sought action against the mobile app Ullu. In a letter to the IT Ministry dated February 27, the child rights body said that Ullu leaves a bad effect on school children, mentioning complaints received by it against shows with obscene content featured on the app targeting school children. The Commission in the letter further requested to take action against the mobile app within 10 days.

Ullu app content violates POCSO law
While stating that the mobile app platforms Google Play Store and iOS do not follow any KYC policy or age verification rules, the Child Rights Protection Commission said that the content of the Ullu app has violated the POCSO law. Ullu Digital has also filed for an IPO on the stock exchange BSE’s SME platform.
What is Ullu?
Ullu is a streaming platform. The company's only source of income are subscriptions. Its founder and CEO Vibhu Aggarwal holds a stake of about 65 per cent in the company, while the remaining 35 per cent is held by his wife Megha.
